Bio

A Marin County native raised in a family of artists—her father a celebrated trumpet player and her mother active in theatre—Sharon followed her creative instincts into storytelling for the screen. She is best known for adapting After We Fell and After Ever Happy, the third and fourth films in the New York Times best-selling AFTER franchise, both of which reached #1 globally on Netflix. Most recently, she adapted Rule & Shaw, the first installment of the Marked Men franchise, which premiered in January 2025 directed by Nick Cassavetes. The film topped box offices in France and Latin America and ranked in the Top 10 on iTunes in the U.S. and Australia before launching on Hulu. The sequel, Jet, enters production later this year. Sharon's credits also include the #1 cable TV movie Love on the Air and an upcoming feature based on the remarkable true story of a stray dog who won the Westminster Dog Show, set to film in Fall 2025, directed by Tony Fabian. She is currently adapting Unlikely Story for Denise Di Novi, starring Rachel Bloom, and developing the romantic comedy Meet Me at Bloomie’s with Happy Accidents Productions. Her other projects in active development include HOT, the untold story of the visionary women behind Palm Springs. Sharon’s work has been produced or developed by leading studios and platforms including Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Disney, Fox, Nickelodeon, eOne, Voltage, Participant Media, and Freeform. A member of the WGA and Television Academy, she has also written for the stage, including the monologue Well Done, Scotland starring Alison Wright featured in the global streamed production Period Piece, and The Apology, published in GUILDED by Next Stage Press. As a Story Terrace writer, Sharon S interviews customers and turns their life stories into books. Get to know our writer better by reading the autobiographical anecdote below!

I’ve always been a big fan of the underdog. I think that started with being one myself. My family moved often while I was growing up, which meant I was the new kid at a new school nearly every year during some of the most formative chapters of my life. Each move required a fresh introduction, a reset, and the hope that I’d find my place once again.

Having very noticeable buck teeth made that process harder. Kids don’t always recognize the impact of their words, and the comments could be cruel. So I looked for refuge wherever I could find it. I found it in comedy. I watched Saturday Night Live before I even understood the rules about staying up late. I found familiarity in shows like Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, and Gilligan’s Island. They made me laugh, and they made me feel less alone.

Writing soon followed as my own way of coping and connecting. I started quickly writing funny bits, channeling my emotions into characters who could say what I couldn’t. When braces eventually straightened my teeth, writing had already begun straightening something deeper — strengthening my confidence and helping me see the value in my own voice.

That discovery opened the door to writing about more than my own experiences. I found I could use storytelling to explore challenges, celebrate triumphs, and help others express their passions, joys, and hard-earned successes. Whether it’s creating characters who overcome obstacles or shaping someone’s real-life story in a way that honors where they’ve been and where they’re going, writing has become my way of amplifying resilience.

Everyone has a story. And every story speaks to someone who needs to hear it — to heal, to feel understood, or to be inspired to thrive.

That’s why I write. To help tell the stories that remind us we’re capable of more than we once believed.
